Why do you need therapy or life coaching services? There are many different motivations for starting therapy or life coaching. You may be going through a major life transition (unemployment, divorce, new job, etc.) and are not handling stressful circumstances well and want to talk to someone who will truly listen and help. You may be struggling with low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship problems, stress management, career performance issues, weight loss, and are feeling stuck or empty in your life. Therapy and life coaching can give you some much needed encouragement and teach you new learning skills to get you through this tough period in your life. You may be at a point where you are ready to learn more about yourself or want to be more motivated towards your goals. In short, when you are at the point of seeking therapy and life coaching you are usually ready to meet the challenges in your life and ready to make the changes necessary to truly live a happier and more fulfilled life. Everyone goes through challenging times in their life and while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, there's nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you truly need it. In fact, therapy and life coaching services are for people who have enough self-awareness to realize when they need a helping hand and that is something to be admired. You are taking responsibility by accepting where you are at in life and making a commitment to change the situation by seeking help.
How can therapy or life coaching help you? Many benefits can come from participating in therapy or life coaching services. A therapist or a life coach can provide you with support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies for life's many stressful issues, whether you are going through them alone, as a couple, or as a family. Many people also find that therapists or life coaches can be a tremendous asset to managing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, work issues, family concerns, marriage issues, and the dealing with the hassles of daily life. Therapist and life coaches can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or point you in the direction of a solution that will help you feel better. Sometimes it is helpful just to know that someone is listening to you, validating your feelings, and understanding what you are going through, without judgment or criticism.
Benefits of therapy or life coaching:
What is a therapy or life coaching session like? Because each person has different issues and goals which led them to therapy/coaching, the process will be different depending on your individual needs and wants. Generally, you can expect to discuss the current events happening in your life, your personal history relevant to your issue, and in each session report progress or any new insights gained since the previous session. Depending on your specific needs, our services can be short-term for a specific issue or longer-term, to deal with more difficult patterns in your life. Either way, for the best outcome it is typically necessary to schedule regular sessions, at least 1 time per week for at least 1 hour, to obtain consistent positive results.
Why would you need Intensive Services? If you want to work through your issues or reach your goals quicker then Intensive Services are right for you. This means attending more than 1 session per week and for more than 1 hour per session. For example, you would typcially schedule 2-3 different days each week for 1-4 hours each day. To better understand this, think about the example of marriage counseling. The typical couple attends marriage counseling once a week for “x” number of weeks – let’s say fifteen. If you’re having a major problem in your marriage, who wants to wait fifteen weeks to get some resolution? This is especially true when there’s been an affair or some type of infidelity. The couple who truly wants to deal with the issues and move beyond them, can use Intensive Services to get a quicker resolution and move forward. The 15 hours of work can be done in just 2 weeks if the couple is dedicated to do the work and the therapist / life coach agrees that this couple is a candidate for intensive services. Intensive services have been proven to be very successful with both therapy and life coaching clients for individuals, families, as well as couples.
What do you need to do to feel better? It is important to understand that you will feel better and get more consistent results from our services, the more you actively participate in the process. The ultimate purpose of our services is to help you bring the skills that you learn in session back into your life and use these skills to create a happier, healthy life for yourself and those around you. Therefore, beyond the work you do in the sessions, your therapist or life coach may suggest some things that you can do outside of therapy to support your process, called "homework" or "fieldwork" - such as reading a relevant book/article, journaling on specific topics, charting particular behaviors daily as they occur, or taking specific actions towards your goals. As the sessions progress and you are making strides towards your goals, subsequent sessions may be conducted in person or over the phone. Having these options is especially helpful when you have a busy schedule, are out of town, or have relocated during this process. REMEMBER: The benefits you get from our services directly depends on your efforts, meaning how well you participate in the process and put into practice the skills that you are learning.
